Assets brings together works that playfully engage with the condition of contemporary visual culture, through the lens of art history, to create a dialectic between liquidity and capital, liquidity and data, and liquidity in the natural and material world. A television leaning against a rock is overtaken by live plants, glitter covered blobs of refined earth engulf a tangle of cables, videos of Pine O Cleen-filled balloons bursting on freshly mown grass, and a neat grid marking the colour spectrum is disrupted by the trace of a wet glass. These eclectic gestures speak, through material exploration, to the contemporary moment of 24/7 capitalism and the Anthropocene as both experience and concept.
