Performance and Video Installation.
Timepiece is a performance and video installation that uses a simple gesture to explore the construction of cinematic time. Timepiece was installed across all three gallery spaces at Kings ARI, Melbourne.
Running for two-days only, the work incorporated a performance element for the two-day duration of the exhibition. Set in a 1950s office, the work focuses on a simple gesture that is repeated. Mediated through video, the gesture repeats infinitely, but when performed live this same gesture is approximated through repetition.
The work continues Hine’s interest in exploring procedures of mediation through the juxtaposition of video and performance elements within gallery installations.
